Cilento Tourism

The Cilento is a subregion of mountains of the Campania region, which extends as a peninsula between the gulfs of Salerno and Policastro, in the southern region.
Until the creation of the National Park of Cilento and Vallo Di Diano Cilento territory was identified among the countries at the foot of Monte della Stella (1131 MT) and other defined east of the River Alento.
For political and economic reasons it was decided to extend the Cilento much of coastal and inland southern province of Salerno.
Formerly, the Cilento was part of Lucania (along with the Vallo di Diano and the Gulf of Policastro).
It has been a sign in dialect, culinary traditions and place names (Vallo della Lucania).
