Ameglia (SP)

Liguria (Italy)

It's an old Ligurian village, now in the court of the medieval bishops of Luni.
The village developed around the castle from the twelfth century.
The ancient Castrum de Amelia is now the City Hall.
The inner courtyard, newly renovated, is used as a theater space for performances in summer.
The church of San Vincenzo is the fifteenth century.
Old and famous throughout Europe are traditional festivals, such as the Omo ar bozo and Christmas at Fada.
Facilities for boating are flagship of Bocca di Magra, the ancient port of Ameglia and location of summer residences in Roman times: the estuary of Slim offers ample opportunity for recreational craft docking.
The monastery of Santa Croce del Corvo, founded in 1176, Dante Alighieri.
In the remaining part of the presbytery (now included in the castle built in the late nineteenth century) is the crucifix of the crow, come, according to legend, on a boat with relics of Christ's blood.
Montemarcello on top of Caprione promontory, named by the consul Claudius Marcellus who won the championing Ligurian Apuan in 155 BC
Since 1985 is the focus of a regional park: pine and deciduous trees on the slope overlooking the Magra and the sea are oaks and Mediterranean.
The beaches on the coast can be reached by boat.
Pointed toe and White Raven to get a boat from Fiumaretta and Bocca di Magra.
Fiumaretta the beach, on the left of the Magra Estuary, was once a stretch of sea off the port of Luni.
The beaches, fine sand, are different from those of the nearby coast of Versilia: seascape and rivers merge, the pine forests alternate with reeds and water has a lower salinity.
Summer brought into use the beaches, the outdoor cinema, football fields, tennis and beach volleyball.
The kitchen amegliese uses fresh seafood and the excellent traditions of Liguria and Lunigiana: In addition to mesciua, pesto and pies erbi you can enjoy delicacies such as stuffed mussels and octopus with farro.
