Situated on the slopes of the hills that surround the upper valley to the west of the Tiber, Anghiari keeps unchanged in the most ancient, the medieval character.
In the Middle Ages, was created outside the ancient castle walls and a steep road in a square flanked by buildings of noble architecture.
To visit the Abbey of St. Bartholomew, Romanesque octagonal, the medieval church of St. Augustine and the Town Hall.
Valuable works of art are housed in the Museum of Popular Traditions in Taglieschi Palace.
At the foot of the hill, the church of St. Stephen, one of the oldest in the region (sixth century.) And the parish of Sovara dating from the twelfth century, with three naves, the font of the fifteenth century.
A few kilometers away is the castle of Monte, with a cylindrical tower and lancet windows, where according to tradition, St. Francis was a guest in 1224 and gave its owner Count Ranieri Barbolani the tunic he wore when he received the stigmata.
