Aosta Valley (Italy)

The city of Aosta is located at the center of the valley, 583 m above sea level.
The capital of the autonomous region of Valle d'Aosta, was founded by the Romans in 25 BC and is located where the basin of the Dora Baltea reaches its maximum width, where the main roads leading in France and Switzerland.
It is surrounded by magnificent mountains, including the Grand Combin and Mont Vélan to the north, Emilius and Becca di Nona South, and the head of Ruitor west.
Full of Roman monuments, medieval and later times, however, is particularly interesting Aosta for some lesser-known aspects of the so called minor, including ancient roads, fountains and wash houses, chapels, shrines, sundials, originating in monasteries, bridges and streams, homes historical and courtyards.
