Cipressa (IM)

Riviera Ligure dei Fiori - Liguria (Italy)

Cipressa rises near the valley of the Rio San Lorenzo, at the foot of the mountain foothills that Faudo (1149 m) descend to the sea, on a broad coastal terraces, known for its floriculture crops and olive trees.
According to legend, the name of the village derives from three pastors fled from Cyprus and landed on the beach of "Aregai" (drowning).
Frassineto destroyed by pirates and later by the Saracens in the sixteenth century watchtower Gallinara Muni's built on a hill that allows control of a large stretch of coast to France.
Cipressa was always contention between the local lords and the Benedictines of Villaregia, who held long dominance in the territory.
The baroque Church of the Visitation houses a valuable crucifix Van Hike and Visitation wood from the school of Maragliano, like the statue of the Annunciation which is located in the oratory of the Annunciation, built in the eighteenth century by Philip Marvaldi. Alternative to cultural visits are the mule to Mount Faudo, also open in mountain biking but cherished by lovers of motocross, as evidenced by the grooves on the trails.
The village of Lingueglietta is a medieval remains intact, preserving the charm of the past, visitors can discover evidence of everyday life for a time, as the old unit still scored below the central portico.
To see the church of the Virgin Mary and the adjoining chapel of the Annunciation: the interweaving of styles from the foundation (XIII century) to make subsequent remakes today a monumental complex composite and rich in valuable details.
Is not far behind St. Peter's, a rare example of a "fortress church" Ligurian fusion of religious architecture in late medieval and military architecture of the sixteenth century.
