Settlement as remote as the protohistoric era, castrum decumani and the following village were built at the boundary of a vast piece of land belonging to the Etruscan family of Patna.
This is witnessed by the archaeological site of the area of Frascole (whose fìndings date back to the 6th century B.C. as the foundations of a Romanesque church and a tomb stone) and by the Archaeological Museum.
Military settlement during the Roman period, since early Middle Ages the town became so an important trading and logistic centre that the Republic of Florence dispossessed the local feudatories.
The opening of the new road to Forlì in 1859 offered great advantages to the town life.
We suggest to visit the Parish Church of Santa Maria, on the top of a hill and easy to reach on foot from the centre, and the Oratory of Sant'Onofrio, one of the most beautiful examples of the Italian Neoclassicism, that is along Via Forlivese, just outside Dicomano.
