The town of Fordongianus is incurred at the site of the ancient city of Trajan's Forum.
This are the Roman baths with tubs fed by hot springs and cold, in a very impressive along the bank of the river Tirso.
The Roman town, first mentioned in the work of the geographer Ptolemy (I sec.aC), there was therefore already in the sec.aC and its most ancient name, Aquae Ypsitanae, referred to natural sources of hot water, (which still flows at a temperature of 54 °) with great therapeutic properties.
With this special from the beginning the city was an important spa, but being situated on the border with the territories became Romanized also an important military garrison.
In mid-imperial age under Emperor Trajan (98-117 AD), took the name of Trajan's Forum and became a great center of trade in goods, located near the center of the large road network of 'era, which linked to Karalis, Turris Lybissonis, Tharros and in close proximity to the west.
The resort spa visitors currently consists of two parts, belonging to different periods.
The oldest, dating back to the first century AD, but also used later, is characterized by natatio, a large swimming pool which was used for therapeutic baths.
