Gairo Sant'Elena is situated in the valley of the Rio Pardu, a deep throat closed by towering limestone walls.
The town was built after 1951 following the evacuation of the old town that was slowly slipping downstream.
His view is disturbing, with gutted houses without gates and railings.
The whole area is spectacular, starting with the road to Lanusei.
