Genoa, the capital city of Liguria, stretches along the Gulf Coast between Voltri to the west and Nervi in the east, while to the inside cover of the lower stretches of the valleys Polcevera and Bisagno.
The current urban conglomerate is the result of the amalgamation of several municipalities, which occurred in 1926.
