Sicily (Italy)

The Wine Route (Nero d'Avola) and the Beaches of Ispica, Ragusa, Italy
The Val di Noto and Ispica are situated in between the province of Siracusa to Ragusa, Sicily.
Ispica located about 5 km from the sea and is mainly built on a panoramic hill. The city was inhabited since the Paleolithic, this has a long and ancient history ... We settled the Sicilians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spanish etc..
After the devastating earthquake of 1693 had to relocate from the Quarry Ispica the current position.
At 5 km from the center of Ispica extends the beach, easily reachable by car or, or by special shuttles.
Santa Maria del Focallo is the whole sea area adjacent to Ispica, but neighbors are two other beautiful areas where you can stop: Ciriga Port and Ulysses. In these wonderful Gulf water is unpolluted and the sea is always enjoyable, because "protected" by the conformation of the coast ...
Food and wine is the confluence of different activities: agricultural, cultural, craft. A moment of synthesis, in terms of excellence, achieved surprising harmonic results, comparable to the experience of art. In a product of the earth, in a dish, a beverage components are reflected in the balance of uses, customs, ideas, values, history of an area. Actual and ideal paths that work in the camps, in shops, in the home know how to translate colors, shapes and flavors.
An art that is an art that gusta.Questa section is visible in one area, the meeting between the producer, who transforms those who consume: actors in a common pathway of tastes and ideas, that traditional fuels, enriches the daily commitment, memory supports.
To show, enjoy, discover, enhance the atmosphere of an ancient land in Sicily that is typical in its resource strengths and identity.
The Val di Noto area is of great importance in the Sicilian landscape production appears to be one located in the south east. It is characterized by a hilly landscape that slopes from west to east, from the Mountains to the Mountains Erei Iblei, touching the plain of Catania to get to lick the sea south of Capo Passero.
The soil is mainly composed of sands, conglomerates, clays and alluvial deposits, also important is the presence of marls, limestones, the basaltic lavas.
The climate is subtropical.
In the provinces of Caltanissetta, Ragusa, Syracuse and part of Catania, are part of the DOC Cerasuolo di Vittoria, dell'Eloro, Moscato di Noto and Moscato di Siracusa. Among the white grapes or the inzolia Ansonica is the most common, almost always brought back and listening so especially in the crop can be obtained from the fermentation of the grapes and wines by the strong pleasant acidity, often with of delicate flavor profile with hints of tropical fruit also. Follow catarratto, the hen, the damaskino the grecanico, Chardonnay. Important and widely used are those from red grapes, including shows on all important for the Nero d'Avola or Calabrese believed indigenous territory of Avola in Syracuse. The wines produced from it are characterized by the body, elegance and structure. Other varieties are widely grown frappato, a native of Vittoria, the big black, nerello mascalese the Pignatelli and the alien Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon to name a few.
Land of meetings and (fighting) because of course placed in the center of the Mediterranean just 800 years ago still epicenter of history and life of the world then unknown Sicily has certainly changed much of its culture (the culture because it is!) From food that mixture of races and civilizations that have trod the ground, sometimes permanently, and thus have deeply permeated his life.
But just as clearly has been able to reconcile and harmonize the different food cultures (and their crop inputs) giving them a cut that enhances typically Sicilian in its singularity, the clear Mediterranean.
Visible and are still occurring despite a widespread sense in the spatial homogeneity of products, and papillary smells, aromas, tastes, consumption traces of products and kitchens of other Countries and Peoples.
In Sicily, however, they are blended so well that it is now known everywhere as a typical Sicilian dishes (couscous Trapani it is as tasty!).
About a thousand years ago an Arab Al Idrisi "sang" Sicily, its sun, its gardens, now the products of the sun, the cuisine of the sun, are praised, even before he sings.
