Laveno-Mombello is a town in the province of Varese on the shores of Lake Maggiore.
It is one of the largest ports in the lake over the marina, there is a landing, from which year-round ferry transporting cars to Verbania.
The town center is located in a large natural bay, in front of Verbania-Intra.
At the extreme north and south of the Gulf there are two forts. On the hill north is the great Garibaldi, surrounded by a park.
East, just above the village, is the imposing Monte Sasso del Ferro.
By means of a cable car to get to the top of the mountain, which enjoys a panorama that sweeps over the lake and the foothills, up to Milan.
Laveno is a renowned center for the production of ceramics, since the nineteenth century. The larger factories have closed in recent years. On the history of ceramics is an interesting museum located on the lakeside village in Cerro. Currently lavenese industry has developed in the paper.
In the village there are 2 railway stations: one run by Italian Railway Spa or station-Laveno Mombello, and the other managed by LeNord named Laveno Mombello-North, the latter being situated right in the center of town on Lake Maggiore.
It is also an important step in the ferry Navigazione Lago Maggiore.
One of the most important step is linking these Laveno-Mombello in Verbania-Intra, and then of Lombardy with Piedmont.
