Ramiseto occupies the western part of the whole territory of the Appennino Reggiano in an area ranging from 600 to 2000 meters.
It is enclosed in a beautiful wooded valley sheltered by the hills of Ventasso, Alpe di Succiso and the river Enza.
Oasis in the Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the territory is rich in scenic views of various kinds: from the lakes of glacial origin in the vegetation of the mountain, which here is particularly lush and rich, from peatlands to great variety of wildlife, particularly crystalline air and revitalization.
Known in the past as the Valley of the Knights, was the scene of many disputes between the authorities of Parma and Reggio and local families throughout the Middle Ages and beyond.
Today Ramiseto still holds most of the villages of historical value throughout the Apennines, particularly interesting from an architectural, are the small towns of: Canova Cecciola, Castagneto Cereggio, Fornoli, Cazzola, Miscoso, the Montedel, Nigone, Poviglio, Pieve San Vincenzo Storlo, Succiso and Taviano.
Due to its privileged position Ramiseto includes in its history and its relevance in different features are hard to find elsewhere.
Among the towns are noteworthy in particular that of Cecciola, an ancient possession of the family Vallisneri characterized by a dense network of narrow streets opening onto small farmyards that still retain the original appearance of the architecture and the mountain village of Montedello in a wonderful panoramic position, in which lie the remains of a fort fifteenth to drown the whole country.
Besides the imposing tower, Montedello still retains the architectural elements of the medieval, as well as seventeenth-century portals of the most beautiful upper Val d'Enza.
In Cazzola, another center near Ramiseto remain two tower-houses, although it is most recommended to visit the Church and the whole House of Knights.
Not only does historical evidence: in Ramiseto are some of the most beautiful scenic routes in the area.
Walked you can really enjoy the beauty of this unspoiled and full of suggestions, reaching the steps of Monte Alto moraine and ice-floe, the site of an ancient glacier, home to botanical species of alpine origin.
The last steep section links up with the crest of Monte Acuto, balcony to the sea.
Reachable through paths surrounded by nature are also of Mount Acuto Lake, surrounded by a vast beech forest meadows and clearings and Scalucchia Pass, where you can get between the ruts up to Valbona looking on major peaks around.
