Ponza is a town of just over 3,000 inhabitants of the province of Latina (Italy), extended on the island of the same name, and the nearby smaller islands of Palmarola, Gavi and Zannone, belonging to the Pontine Islands archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
During the summer the island is popular with tourists, mostly coming from Lazio and Campania.
Popular destination for visitors is a small beach called Chiaia di Luna, which is exposed to the west and protected from north winds by a wall of white tuff very high.
Formerly located on this beach was a port greek, still in the neighboring waters is not uncommon to find remains of ancient buildings or fragments of amphorae.
Ponza's economy is based mainly on tourism and fishing.
Poor, but of excellent quality, is the production of cereals, lentils in particular, as well as wine, white and fragrant.
The town of Ponza is located in central-southern part of the island on the east coast.
Near the center of Ponza arise: Guarini, Giancos, I Conti and Santa Maria, while to the north are the towns of Campo Inglese and Le Forna.
