The village is grouped around the beautiful square Tanucci completely lined with medieval houses porticoed by use of this part of the Apennines.
In the parish church, in Romanesque style with three naves, are paintings from '200 to '400, together with a glazed terracotta by Andrea della Robbia.
A short distance from town, stands the castle of Porciano, built in the eleventh century as the first residence of the Counts Guidi.
A large square tower is what remains of the mighty castle.
Hence, in 1311, the Florentine Dante wrote the famous letter which invited them to submit to the emperor.
