The town occupies the highest part of the Orba valley of the river, which originates near the pass of Faiallo. Partly understood in the natural park of Beigua, is composed of five villages scattered among the oaks and chestnuts, between 650 and 1000 meters above sea level. Are ideal for a quiet vacation in unspoilt nature. Orba River is well known for the purity of its waters teeming with fish, but in recent years is also popular for canoeing and kayaking, especially in the stretch of Martina Olba; interesting for the same reason, ponds and waterfalls that the Rio Baracca form in places of Gatazzé Acquabianca. The grass skiing, sports quite unique in Liguria, you can enjoy the summer, while the more traditional winter skiing can use the lifts of Alberola. The territory was included in the possessions of the abbey of Tiglieto before moving to Aix and then Sassello. The parish church of San Giacomo Martina Olba is the seventeenth century, a century is but the latest parish of St. Peter in the same name.
