Caprera Island

The island of Caprera is part of the Maddalena archipelago belonging to the municipality of La Maddalena in the north-eastern coast of Sardinia.
The highest peak, Mount Teialone reaches 212 meters above sea level and the island, with an area of 15.7 square kilometers is the second largest after that of Mary Magdalene and connected to it by a bridge. With the other islands of the archipelago is a protected park and there are few people living there, mainly in the fraction of Stagnali.
Geography - Of a granite has many forests, mainly pine forests and spectacular coastline with beautiful sandy coves to rias alternating with cliffs overlooking the sea. The color of water is a green crystalline intense thanks to the strong currents that clean the sea from the particles in suspension and from the bottom of white sand that stand out the shades.
History - The island is best known for being the last home of Giuseppe Garibaldi, the famous white house, now a museum, a clock and calendar on a wall still mark the date and the death of the hero of two worlds: June 2, 1882 at 18:20.
Shortly before his death Garibaldi asked to watch for the last time that sea that he so loved. His remains were buried in a tomb, a granite rough.
A Caprera remained her home, her boats, her objects become relics of a museum among the most popular and visited in the world.
