It was formerly known as Phoenicusa full of ferns, or characteristic of a dwarf palm still on the island headlands. The island of Filicudi is the second westernmost island of the archipelago (after Alicudi) and is located about 24 nautical miles west of Lipari. It is dominated by Mount Fossa ferns, an extinct volcano 774 m high Besides it, there are volcanoes of seven other well, all off a long time, and so badly corroded erosion. The population, about 250 inhabitants (which in 3000 became the summer), is distributed between the centers of Filicudi Porto Valdichiesa and Pecorino to Sea, linked by the only paved road on the island and a dense network of mule tracks. To go to Milazzo you make the airports of Rinella and Santa Marina Salina, Lipari, Vulcano Island. The Municipality of Lipari has levied a tax of one euro for the entry into its territory. There are two main landing Filicudi, none of which can be defined as safe for all weather. The port, one where almost all visiting ships, ferries, is naturally the most popular and "commercial" island of Filicudi. Pecorini Sea, represents an alternative mooring on days when weather conditions or for other reasons, the connection means can not attracare Port.
